Treatment

At Central Clinic we seek to support our clients to achieve a full recovery from their compulsive disorder, enabling them to live their lives in a more meaningful and healthy way, free of their addictions.

The therapy is usually undertaken in the form of a once or twice weekly, one hour, face to face counselling session. However, for those clients who may have problems travelling into central London on a regular basis, it is possible for sessions to be conducted by phone.

Assessment

During the first meeting your therapist will ask you a series of questions to formulate an assessment. This is to help both of you to identify the precise nature of the problem, and how and when it developed. The therapist will then give you information about your situation, and options for treatment.

In some cases we may suggest involving other medically-trained practitioners in your treatment, or offer you advice on inpatient care options, if thought necessary.

The Therapy

We understand that the quality of the relationship between client and therapist has a significant impact on the efficacy of therapy. For this reason your therapist will be keen to build a trusting working alliance with you.

This working alliance will enable us to work more closely with you to develop strategies for stopping your addiction, and support you to sustain the motivation to follow through with some of the changes you may need to make to your lifestyle.

In the latter stages of treatment your therapist will formulate a package of ongoing support and aftercare that will enable you to maintain a lasting recovery.

Family Support
In addition to individual therapy, we are able to offer support to families whose lives have been affected by addiction or who are concerned about a loved one who is not yet ready to ask for help.

Sometimes we may suggest family involvement in the treatment process, as in many cases this has been proven to improve outcomes.
